After Marine Le Pen, it is the turn of Christine Boutin to file an appeal on the issue of sponsorships. If the FN president does with the Council of State, the former minister of Nicolas Sarkozy, she will file the Constitutional Council.

The Christian Democratic Party, on the basis of a response from the Constitutional Council to a letter sent by Christine Boutin, decided to "file an appeal" within the first fifteen days of January, said its president.

"We have appealed to the Constitutional Council on the basis of a simple letter sent last week to suggest, as it did in 2007, of its own initiative the sponsorship issue," said the candidate.

"In 2007, he had already noticed that sponsorship was not required to comply with Article 4 of the Constitution," said Ms. Boutin.

This section provides that "the law guarantees pluralistic expressions of opinions and the equitable participation of political parties and groups in the democratic life of the Nation."

"The Constitutional Council has answered my letter and this response encourages us to file an appeal," Boutin said.
